Inner Country Health Network

The SA Inner Country Health Network is a collaborative partnership with a broad range of membership comprising senior clinical and managerial staff from five Divisions of General Practice and the three Country Health SA Operational Clusters of Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island; Murray Mallee; and Gawler, Barossa, Eudunda and Kapunda. The Network will also include some other non-government organisations.

The Network is a response to the SA Health GP Plus Strategy and other research and work undertaken within CHSA and comprises key partners who have willingly agreed to participate in the Trial. The SA Inner Country Health Network is being trialled for 12 months. The Network and its operations will be evaluated, before it is considered for implementation more broadly across other country areas of South Australia.

The primary purpose of the Network is to drive health reform in order to improve health outcomes for the individuals and communities who access health care services across the inner rural area of country SA. A secondary function is to advise government and help inform policy on health care strategies, needs and outcomes.

The Local Health Alliance role

Working through Murray Mallee General Practice Network the local health alliance role is all about driving health reform by working better together. The Local Health Alliance is made up of local GPs, Clinicians and agencies who will meet together to identify the needs of the local community. By gathering local information and using the information provided by locals, such as the Health Advisory Councils we will be informed and ready to influence the SA Inner Country Health Network.
