Better Access
The Better Access to Mental Health Care program was introduced in November 2006 to provide increased access to mental health professionals and Psychiatrists. The patient must have a mental disorder, GP Mental Health Care Plan (Item 2710) and a GP referral.
The MMGPN’s four visiting psychologists provide services under this program in the Murray Mallee at no cost to the patient. However, other private Psychologists may charge a fee or ‘gap’, and this should be confirmed directly with the individual practitioner.
